Tuberculosis is a bacterial disease that has been around for millennia. It has had a profound effect on populations, many of which include our own ancestors.

What is this horrible disease, what does it do to the body, and how has it been viewed in different eras?

Patrice Connelly will take you through this and a number of careers and occupations in which workers were more affected than others. You may be surprised at how many of your ancestors were potentially exposed to the risk of catching TB, and how many death certificates might contain a misdiagnosis.

Who can know what those who died young might have gone on to do if they had lived without TB? What did having a breadwinner die of TB do to the economic and emotional stability of the family?
