Topic: Story Genres, Structures, Elements and Techniques
Are you wanting to write your family history? Looking for ideas and guidance? Join our first meeting for 2026 where we'll be discussing story genres, structures, elements and techniques you might use. We’ll share projects we’re working on and discuss reasons for telling ancestor stories creatively, not just chronologically.
Whether we’re writing just for fun and privately, or for magazines and competitions, there are many ways we can approach the writing of family history and much we can learn from creative writers. Come and hear ideas about elements and techniques that make a good story.
This group is all about sharing writing practice and learning from each other, so your experiences and questions are very welcome. If you’re new to the group and unfamiliar with Basecamp (a platform we use for communication, sharing writing, and interacting with fellow writers between meetings), we’ll show what that looks like and how to join.
For those joining The Writing Group for the first time and who wish to join Basecamp, please contact SAG at: admin@sag.org.au
Come and join us - new attendees are always welcome!
