Dublin's Registry of Deeds is a genealogical goldmine for anyone with Irish ancestry.

The records cover memorials and deeds for property transfer for all of Ireland. It was not compulsory so there are gaps, but there are literally thousands of documents (including wills) with information on family relationships which can't be found elsewhere.

In this talk, Patrice Connelly will tell you all about the Registry, the types of records held and how you can visit if you're in Dublin. Then she will take you through a related website: the volunteer project which aims to make all of these records available to search freely. Already there are thousands of records online, and you might end up being one of their volunteers. She will show you what each of the different categories of records looks like, and what you get when you click on the links. For anyone with Irish heritage, this talk will introduce you to an amazing resource.

If you are researching Irish ancestors, you might like to watch two (or more!) of the other members only FREE Family History Connect Sessions by Patrice in the Members Area of our website:

This is a members only event that will take place via Zoom.

Bookings are essential for this session.
