Subject Areas: Manorial Records and English Cities

Guest Speaker: Dr Caroline Adams

We will be covering two subject areas in this session in September, the first hour will be Manorial Records and the second, English Cities.

Manorial Records:

We are very fortunate to welcome an invited speaker Dr Caroline Adams, a well- known English historian, archivist, and palaeographer, who will give us an introduction to manorial records – what they are and how to find and use them for genealogical research.  Caroline has also provided handouts for this session. Caroline enjoys interactive meetings andis looking forward to your questions.

English Cities:

You may remember we suggested we follow up our completed County presentations by group members with similar short format (10 minute) presentations on English Cities.  The co-leads will present background information on which places are deemed to be cities and how that came about.  In addition, several short City presentations will be given.  So you, our members, can decide if you wish to accept this challenge and present in our future meetings.  Please let Diana know if you would like to contribute a City presentation at later meetings when we meet on the 3rd.

Come along and join us as we research our English ancestors in a collaborative, friendly and engaging research group. Make sure you have your questions ready and also be ready to assist others if you are able to as this is the basis of what all SAG Groups are about - people helping other people with ideas and suggestions about their family research.
