Topic: Slow Steps to Federation

In 1846 Governor FitzRoy raised the need for a ‘central colonial authority’. It took a further 55 years to achieve this vision on 1 January 1901.

There were so many steps in between. What were the colonial agendas? Where did Fiji and New Zealand feature? And then there were the shearers, the 

Suffragettes, churches, Irish, progressives and conservatives. All playing a part.

How did all these threads come together to finally form the Federation of Australia?
