Topic: The Colonial Secretary’s Correspondence

Every colonist had dealings with the colonial authorities. From convict assignments, land grants, movement, trade, marriage, schools, mining, churches and so much more, the existing records of these dealings are found in the Colonial Secretary’s Correspondence.

But who was the Colonial Secretary? What records did he hold? Where are these records? How do I access them? How can I find what I’m looking for? What are the Special Bundles?

Don’t worry, our awesome Andrew will demystify the Colonial Secretary’s Correspondence and explain how the records are kept and indexed. Andrew will then walk us through how we can successfully explore these treasures. This meeting is a must if you have Colonial ancestors.

Skill level: All

Group Leads: Lorraine Luks, Kristine Newton, Sharon Shelley and Andrew Redfern
