Come along and join us as we research our Scottish ancestors in a collaborative, friendly and engaging research group. Make sure you have your questions ready and also be ready to assist others if you are able to as this is the basis of what all SAG Groups are about - people helping other people with ideas and suggestions about their family research.

Shire of interest: Ross & Cromarty

Topic: Occupations or Trades

Society CEO Ruth Graham will be providing a talk about the work of coopers in Scotland, providing information on the centuries-old craft. Ruth will be outlining some useful records to support research - 'Nae coopers. Nae whisky'. Ruth will have a handout for those who book.

SAG members will talk on other interesting occupations including: Tobacco spinning, kilt making, a running stationer, cow feeding in Edinburgh, crofting, female servants, a whitesmith, a compositor, women fish gutters and fiddlers. We thank all those who have offered to present and share knowledge in an interesting way.

We look forward to seeing you at the meeting so we can all learn the social history and living conditions of some of our forebears in Scotland.
