Family History Connect | Mapping your Ancestors

Our 'members-only' series, Family History Connect, feature themed sessions focusing on particular areas of genealogical research.

Sessions are generally facilitated by one of the Society’s wonderful volunteers and will take place in-person at our Family History Research Centre & Library. These sessions are open to all current members of the Society.

You can view other sessions in the Family History Connect series here.

Family History Connect | Mapping your Ancestors

Show – don’t tell!!

Replace lengthy descriptions of places with a simple map and improve your family stories. Using maps will give a sense of place and the setting of your family story. Maps can show the family’s position in the world, their local environment or the path of their travels.

Learn about maps using different content and sources of maps for you to use. The second part of the session shows how to display your ancestor’s lives using Google Maps and how this can then be shared with others.

Join Society volunteer Jeff Madsen to explore ways in which you can map your ancestors as this session follows on from the recent series on NSW Land Records.

Limit of 8 participants.

This is a members only event that will take place in person at our Family History Research Centre & Library.

Bookings are essential for this session.

This is a face-to-face session and will not be recorded.
