Dr Michael Williams is an Adjunct Professor with the Institute for Australian and Chinese Arts and Culture, Western Sydney University. He is a scholar of Chinese-Australian history and one of his specialist areas of study is the Dictation Test.

Join Michael for a webinar that explains what the Dictation Test was and how it was used as a key instrument in the implementation of the Immigration Restriction Act of 1901, one of the key pieces of legislation in what is referred to as the 'White Australia policy'.

The Dictation Test files are a valuable resource for family historians researching ancestors of Chinese heritage in particular. This webinar will discuss why family historians should be using these files as part of their research and explain the types of information that may be found within them.

This webinar is part of the August - October Season Ticket.
