Volunteers sought for archives

21 Jan 2020 12:00 PM | Anonymous

Do you love working with family history documents and want to help your Society? We have three positions vacant for volunteers to work in the archives on our manuscript and image collection.

Our archives' volunteers help with cataloguing, indexing, conserving and promoting the collection. Prior experience in archives is not required, but if you do have experience or skills which would be useful to us, please indicate that in your application.

Two vacancies are available Tuesdays and one on Fridays. Standard hours are 10am-3pm (negotiable).

Applicants must:

  • be a current member of the Society of Australian Genealogists
  • be able to attend on a regular basis, one day per week, at Richmond Villa (120 Kent Street Sydney) [holidays are permitted!]
  • be methodical and have an eye to detail
  • be comfortable using computers (Word, Excel, and our MIDAS catalogue)

Please note that the archives are located in a 3 storey building. There is no disabled access and volunteers must be capable of negotiating stairs and lifting archival boxes.

To apply, please email with information about yourself, any relevant experience or skills, and your contact details. These positions tend to fill quickly, so please send us your details as soon as possible if you are interested.
